There’s something very cool about a picture that captures dynamic motion. (I suppose all motion is dynamic, but what I mean is that shows it in a way that’s easy to appreciate. Hair is an obvious place to look for motion and I was thinking about it this morning and wondering how many shots I have of women whose hair is moving in some way. It turns out there were quite a few. There were several of dancers for Beats Antique, a few of people running, some of people in the wind and a couple of people singing. I’m not going to say that the motion in every one of these cases is dramatic but it’s there if you look.
Recently I noticed my hairline was starting to recede. Not in the middle but at my temples. Long ago I’d decided that if I were to go bald I’d shave my head. Given how little hair was involved (most people wouldn’t realize anything was even going on) that seemed a little draconian. When I asked my barber for some ideas he suggested I could brush it back. That didn’t seem to make much sense and when I went home and tried it my wife just laughed. It wasn’t a very good look for me. Which isn’t to say it isn’t a good look. A lot of men brush their hair back. Maybe some do it to deal with receding hairlines; but as you’ll see from the photos below, many do it just to look awesome.
We’re on the verge of May here in New England. Soon the warm weather months will be upon us. Though they’re not with us long, many men will begin considering their summer hairstyles soon. To help with that process, I’ve put together a set of men with buzz cuts (it’s what I often sport during the hot and humid months). Now in putting this set together I did not include bald men or men who are almost bald and shave their heads. No, this is a set of guys who went into their barber and told them to put a number one guard on the clipper. Hope you enjoy. The summer will be here soon!
A few weeks ago I did a set of red-haired women. I also did a set of men wearing red. Today I sent these two ideas racing toward each other and have a set of men with red hair. Red comes in so many tones. A few of these fellows have really bright reds and oranges while others have hair that’s almost blonde. I’m pretty flexible though and included them all. I hope you enjoy them!
Today I have chosen a set of women with long blonde hair. Some straight, some curly, some bleached and some dark but all blonde. Deciding what “long” means is trickier. I went with anything that passed the shoulders but others might argue it needs to be longer than that. Since it’s my site I get to make the rules.
I really wanted to do a set of women with braids but didn’t come up with enough examples. While I was looking though I noticed all these women with great long straight hair. There were so many I could have done a bunch of sets and that’s something I’ll probably do. To get the ball rolling I’ve decided to focus on women with long straight dark hair. It may remind people of the framed faces set and maybe it is similar; that’s OK though, I still think these faces are great and hope you will too.
Let me preface today’s set by saying I am happy to be a guy. It’s great. But when it comes to how interesting people look, women have it all over men. They just have so many more options – hair can be long, medium or short; it can be dyed, bleached or natural; it can be curled, straightened or waved – and then there’s makeup and piercings. Guys can do all of those things too – and many do – but with less latitude. Mostly it’s facial hair: beard, mustache goatee; and head hair: balding/buzz, neat or long.
Today’s set is the opposite of last week’s women with short hair and features men who keep their locks long. I’ve referred to them as “hippies” in the title but clearly that’s not the case for everyone pictured. Men have come up with interesting ways to grow their hair that does look stylish without necessarily looking unkempt. Here are 12 men with different interpretations of long hair.
