A few people got in touch with the news that Microsoft will be collaborating on OpenID. Kim Cameron at Microsoft also blogs on the importance of “user-centric” identity and I couldn’t agree more. All of us should be able to easily bring our identities with us from site to site or community to community. Not being able to limits participation and interaction.
It’s not only identity though that needs to tag along, but reputation as well. I mentioned seeing TrustPlus last week at WebInno here in Boston. They’re one company looking into the reputation part of the puzzle in an interesting way. The holy grail though has to be the ability to connect identity AND reputation AND make them easily persistent and portable.
